Haener has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. Prior to co-founding the Phoenix-based lobbying firm Willetta Partners, Haener worked with Congressman Matt Salmon at Upstream Consulting. Haener also worked as Deputy Chief of Staff for Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, where he developed, advocated and implemented policy and programs on a broad range of issues from economic development to healthcare.

Haener has experience at all levels of government, also serving as Director of Legislative Affairs and Communications Director for the Arizona Office of the Attorney General, Assistant to the Mayor of Phoenix, aide to U.S. Senator Dennis DeConcini and as an independent strategic and policy and campaign consultant.

During his career, Haener worked with the Arizona Legislature and county attorneys to create Arizona’s first anti-terrorism statue in the wake of 9/11; worked alongside Governor Napolitano to build and pass bipartisan state budgets distributing nearly $10 billion each year in revenue, and pass a stadium district bill to allow Arizona State University to renovate its athletic facilities. Most recently, he served as co-chair of Governor Katie Hobbs’ transition team.
